“It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.”~ Maya Angelou, Phenomenal Woman
From Ria :
I’m a housewife who is in house clothes and uncombed hair, running after two active toddlers 99% of the time.So it was a very good experience feeling like a Cinderella for a day with Souldeelight as my fairy godmother.I was apprehensive to push through with this boudoir shoot at first but in between her giggles and sunny attitude, somehow Dee made me feel comfortable and confident about myself despite my pimples, bulges and stretch marks. The purpose of this photo shoot is to be able to preserve whatever’s left of my youth and have something to look back to when I’m old and gray, I’d only do this once so I went for the most creative, most artistic person I know who understands “sexy but classy” very well.Amidst the chores, the smell of garlic and onion and the toddler mess I have to deal with everyday,it was good to have a Cinderella moment and remind me that there’s still a beautiful woman inside. The pics made the husband happy and proud too!
I met Ria when I was still working in Cebu under a Japanese Software Telecom company. I’ve always admired her as a person, as a business woman… and now more than ever as a mother. People dubbed her as supermom, and really, if you know her, you wouldn’t be surprised why.
I seem to be attracted to people who keeps their hands and minds busy. Remember that old adage, “an idle mind is the devil’s playground”? That is so true. We all know people who flood our social media timeline with rants and complains. But really, we have hands, feet , a brain and a heart… we can move, we can feel, we can decide to do something to get out of the rut.
And Ria does exactly that. As if living the role of a stay at home mom and wife is not demanding enough, she joins a community of fellow moms and other women on talks and short courses right in the middle of Google playground in San Franciso. I mean, how awesome is that!?! (I wanna be like you when I grow up Ria!!!!! hahahahha just kidding)
So Imagine my delight when she asked if I can do a boudoir session for her. Boudoir shoots, the classy kind, are not for everyone. And not everyone would understand why someone would do it. For me, it is one of the most intimate kind of photography there is. Aside from the skimpy clothes and the lingerie and all silky materials present in the set… It is intimate because it’s another form of embracing yourself, your womandhood, it’s celebrating you.
And every single lady who I had the pleasure of photographing in a boudoir themed shoot, will say exactly this. It’s not because they want attention. It’s not because it’s the “in” thing to do right now. Some would do it as a gift for their partners. But more importantly, it’s a form of appreciation of who they are as woman, appreciating their bodies now whatever size or form or condition it is on. Every body is beautiful. The soul and personality that makes that body go alive trumps whatever number is displayed in the vital stats or on the weighing scale.
And besides, true beauty never craves for attention of others.
Thank you Ria for the wonderful time, the trust and celebrating you! And thank you for the generous words about our time together.
p.s: we have to kick out Dan, Ria’s husband, out of the hotel room while we do the shoot. Hahaha. Thank you for being such a good sport Dan!

It’s truly inspiring specially for a mom and a woman like me who also feels the beauty of her youth fleeting away. Great model, wonderful shots, good job to both of you!

Hi Genie! Oh thank you for dropping by. My mommy clients usually do say that, but I’ve been blessed to be able to work with amazing women who each inspire me in their own way. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts 🙂 xx
