I’m telling you, it was so nice doing this commissioned portrait session with Illa. She emailed me last December checking my availability for a shoot with her. She wanted to build her folio with some of my style of images, and I am beyond ecstatic that “no” never crossed my mind. Thank you for the trust Illa!
This is just the first set, I hope you will come back and see more of this beautiful lady in my future posts. It still amazes me how many beautiful and emotive images you can take in such a tiny tiny spot. The sun was SCORCHING when we did this shoot. Unforgivingly hot. So when I spotted this semi-fallen tree near the beach (beach photos to follow my loves!), images of backlit luminous portraits immediately came flashing in my head. I always get excited when that happens. Hahaha.
And we played peek-a-boo with the sun, but it was a fun game. One moment he is up and backlighting Illa so beautifully, the next he’s behind a curtain of clouds, and then he’ll show up again with open arms and letting his rays fall so tenderly in all the right places. I get to play with light. Natural light. Just the way I like love it.

These images makes me smile. I hope they do the same to you. Have a good day everyone (if no one is reading this, hello imaginary reader/friend/supporter! ahaha).
love, Dee
