- Nikko G Nib
- Oblique Pen Holder ( Or straight pen if that is what you have)
- Sumi Ink ( Or Chinese Ink or Indian Ink)
- Calligraphy friendly paper *
* not all printer paper are calligraphy friendly. Please check that the one you are using can handle ink well , meaning they won’t bleed (go sideways as you write) and your strokes can hold it’s form until the ink dries.
* for those that are based in Singapore, Paper One brand is good to use. Please buy the one with dark blue or red packaging/wrapping.
Dee has been an important part of my wedding preparations. I first got in contact with her through a mutual contact who recommended Dee to do the calligraphy for my invitations. They were elegant and exactly what we wanted. After two different projects with Dee we had our menus designed and printed with her. I had a lot of requirements and details and Dee once again was very professional. Even though she was on holiday she took the time to draft different designs for me. I couldn’t recommend her more whether for calligraphy or for bespoke stationary. We had such a non stressful process and in big part thanks to Dee's work ethic and talent! We are so happy with the end result!
I have absolutely loved Dee's workshops this summer - a real highlight of the year! Myself and my friends attended 5 sessions (so far) learning about calligraphy and use of watercolours. Dee is such an inspiring artist and also a kind and encouraging teacher. I have been really amazed by what we can achieve in a session with her expert guidance. I can strongly recommend Souldeelight and I will definitely be booking more sessions in the near future.
Dee is very positive and always willing to offer constructive feedback on how we can improve our letters. She does not put you down and make you feel good after a class!
I still have loads to work on after my five classes but I am so grateful that I chose to take Dee’s classes as I truly feel I have discovered and picked up a new skill for life! I went to 5 of Dee's classes, and it was so so fun. Being able to learn many things like floral watercolour and brush calligraphy really made me more confident of myself. I used to do calligraphy and always doubted myself, but with Dee's help, I saw my work through new eyes and now I'm loving them more. Loved the experience, love Dee, and I can't wait to try them all out!! Definitely a good place to go to and learn more !!
Dee is amazing! She is so talented and passionate about her art. But more so her endearing personality of patience and sweetness that makes learning from her a wonderfully pleasant experience. Her workshops are highly recommended!
Dee is a very personable and fun instructor. Her classes are easy to follow as she breaks down the different techniques into smaller bite-size parts. As I did both calligraphy and watercolour with her, Dee also interweaved the techniques so that I did not have to learn the process twice. She is always very encouraging and celebrates with me my little achievements throughout the course 😀
Loved dee’s Floral water colour class. A patient and cheerful teacher! It was such a relaxing class and I learned useful techniques, Dee was very generous with her tips and tricks! Her home studio was wonderfully cozy.I’ll be sure to return for her calligraphy classes!
It was nice. It was my first time attending a calligraphy class and I was not disappointed. I can understand the lessons quite clearly and from what trouble I have, Miss Dee was willing to teach it again step-by-step. The pace was just right for me also as we didn't get stuck on one topic too long but still have time to practice it and finish the whole session. Which works for me as I can get a little bit distracted and with the limited time, I wanted to learn as many things possible. Would love to learn some more if opportunity strikes.
Attended the floral watercolor workshop by Dee, which she was generous with her encouragement, materials and time. It was a great lesson in a comfortable setting!
I have been to other calligraphy classes before, but only felt frustrated after. I gave it another go by signing up with Dee's class. And the experience is totally different. Thank you Dee for you patience and your way of teaching. Even after the class Dee is still very accommodating when I messaged her with my questions. I ended up signing for to all of her classes!
Dee is an excellent teacher. Her passion is clearly shown when she conducts her workshops.
